Return ‘Em Right Launches New Gear Distribution Model

The Return ‘Em Right program is evolving to a new gear distribution model designed to reach even more anglers and strengthen conservation outcomes. Beginning on May 13th, 2026, anglers will have the opportunity to receive release gear while covering only the shipping and handling cost, helping to ensure the program remains widely accessible and sustainable.

Investment Drives Impact

This change helps ensure the gear reaches anglers who are ready and committed to using it to improve survival of released reef fish. When anglers make even a small investment, programs like Return ‘Em Right often see stronger engagement and greater use of the gear on the water. This shared investment directly improves fish survival and leads to better conservation outcomes.

Sustainability of the Program

This small contribution helps strengthen the long-term sustainability of the program and expands its reach to more anglers, ultimately supporting better fish survival after release. Learning and applying best release practices on the water remains the most important step anglers can take.

What Hasn’t Changed?

Return ‘Em Right’s mission remains the same: improve fish survival by equipping anglers with the knowledge and gear to confidently and successfully release fish. Eligible anglers can still obtain gear at a reduced cost, allowing them to receive the tools they need. Anglers remain strongly committed to reducing release mortality and using best practices to improve survival.

Is the Training Still Free?

The 15-minute online training that teaches best practices for safely releasing reef fish that suffer from barotrauma is still free and is encouraged for all anglers. Education continues to remain at the forefront of Return ‘Em Right’s mission and will always be free to all anglers.

Incredible Value Remains

After completing the training, eligible anglers can receive the same high-quality release gear package valued at over $100 for just the cost of shipping and handling (roughly $12).

The package still includes:

  • One pre-rigged Standard SeaQualizer Descending Device attached to a 3lb lead weight using a three-way swivel.
  • One SeaYaLater Fish Release Hook.

Shared Stewardship

Return ‘Em Right recognizes that sustainable fisheries depend on a strong collaboration and shared commitment. Anglers play a central role in this effort, bringing their experience and dedication to the water while adopting practices that help reduce post-release mortality. Together, this partnership strengthens the long-term health of fisheries and ensures that fishing remains available for future generations.
